SK55 GENERATOR SCREWS.
Owners of D1 to D7 BSA Bantams may have struggled to find screws to replace missing or damaged screws in the Wipac SK55 generators. The screws have Unified threads as Wipac were an American owned company. The screws are:
2 off Round cover screws: Raised Countersunk head 8 UNC × 3/8" long. 1 off Points adjusting screw: Fillister Head 8 UNC × 3/8" long. 2 off Points insulating block screws: Fillister Head 8 UNC × 3/8" long. 1 off Condenser mounting screw: Fillister Head 8 UNC × 3/8" long. 4 off Terminal screws: Grub Screws 8UNF × 1/4" long. 1 off Terminal earthing screw: Fillister Head 8 UNF × 3/8" long. 2 off Nuts retaining coil spider: Hexagon 10 UNF.
These screws are available online but you may have to use A2 stainless steel versions with Phillips heads
Just to cause more confusion the screw that holds the points cam onto the end of the crankshaft is: Fillister Head 4BA × 3/4" long. This screw should have a special thick washer with a pimple that fits into the points cam keyway slot plus a shakeproof or spring washer to prevent the screw coming undone.
The horrible little woodruff key for the points cam is frequently damaged or missing. You can make a replacement key from a small washer that is of suitable thickness. It is a fiddly job but it can be cut with a junior hacksaw and filed to shape. The key does not need to be hardened as the load is minimal.

Thank you for finally sorting that one out for me, folk arguing about 3 or 4BA and 5Ba too on some places is now of no consequence, but as you say, finding Unified National Coarse screws isn't going to be easy, but I imagine the USA still use it.
