Following a post from new member barriew I thought it would be worthwhile posting the attached table of standard carburettor models and settings for BSA Bantams. A lot of the D10 onwards models are no longer fitted with their correct air filter so the carburation will probably need to be adjusted to compensate for this change. The biggest carburation problem that my D14/4 engined Wassell Bantam suffered from, was after around a 1000 miles. The engine would not rev and the carburation was very rich. It was fitted with a Wassell round pan air filter screwed directly onto the carburettor. The pleated paper type filter element was soaked with oil from carburettor blow back and this had partially blocked the filter element causing the carburation to be very rich. The solution was to cut out the paper element, fit an inner and outer mesh fine stainless steel mesh gauze and pack the space between with stainless steel pot scourers. This has worked fine as the oily carburettor blowback oils the filter. It just needs washing in petrol occasionally. Regards Butty Bach
