Morning all, I've a 54 sun that's about ready to roll again. I inherited it as a basket case from my dad when he died a few years back which I've been rebuilding slowly.
It was originally northern Irish registered however no paperwork has ever been known for it.
What is the process/who do I contact etc. to start the ball rolling for this to either get it's original Irish registered back or an age related plate issued?

As you have no documents for your bike you will need to get it re-registered with an age related number. You will need to contact the BTSC Dating Officer, Howard Blakeborough as he had dialog with the DVLA at Swansea. His contact details are at the bottom of the inside front page of 'The Independant' club magazine. Please note that the machine needs to be a runner before it can be re-registered and it needs to be inspected to check that it is a genuine machine. Also note that age related registration numbers are non transferable to prevent people obtaining old registration numbers and selling them.

Unlike the rest of GB, where to retain and original registration without the RF60, you have to contact the county archive and hope they have some suitable documentation, I believe that DVA Coleraine has comprehensive records of old NI registrations. If you had an RF60, you could have submitted that along with a V62 (rather than the V765 used with a GB registration) so, although it doesn't apply in your case, it does show the procedures differ. I haven't done any retentions of a NI vehicle so I don't really know the exact procedure. As Buttybach says, try Howard Blakeborough. If he's a clear in the procedure as I am(!), someone at the FBHVC ought to know. I wouldn't advise asking DVLA as importing historic vehicles from NI is a miniscule part if their everyday business and you chance of getting through to one of the specialist staff who knows about it is vanishingly small.
